The Sixth Annual Sunnyside Gardens Oktoberfest, Pumpkin Patch and Arts & Crafts Fair!!! 

One of my favorite events because it has always been great family fun.  My kids can run around and enjoy the day while I sell my wares.  This year I have plenty of new designs.  I have been getting requests for headbands so please stop by and check them out! 

It starts at noon and ends at dusk.  My friend Tai Hernandez will be joining me and she has a ton of wonderful items for children, adults and the home.

I have been away too long!!! But I'm back :)

It has been almost a year since my last post. I just had my third baby in July and I am ready to get back in the scene.

In 2010, I mainly focused in participating as many craft fairs as I could. It took a toll on me. I am now focusing in getting my accessories in stores. I have so much fun meeting the people I am selling my crafts to that I mainly focused on personally selling my items at craft shows/fairs.

But I realize that if I want to turn my hobby into a business I must give up a little control. There is definitely less creating - my favorite part, and more focus on marketing, taking pictures, and creating line sheets - just to name a few. I definitely need to learn to manage my time. I have 14 weeks to learn to do this. That's when my maternity leave is up.

Marikit Designs in October 2010

It has definitely been a busy September. Now its going to get even busier.

For October I will be at the following locations:

October 9 - Sunnyside Gardens, Queens - Oktoberfest and Craft Fair. It starts from 12-5pm. There will be a ton of activities for children and drinking for adults. Sunnyside Gardens Park is located at 48-21 39th Avenue Sunnyside, NY 11104. Explore playgrounds, jam to live music from the Strung Out String Quartet, nosh on German food, visit a craft fair with local handmade work and purchase a pumpkin at our annual fall event, which is open to the public. Rain date: October 10.


October 16 - Crafts at Chelsea, NYC - 2nd Annual Fall Festival & Crafts Fair Benefiting PS 11. Its from 10 - 5pm. This event is sponsored by the NewNew. On 21st Street between 8th & 9th Street. Join us as over 100 local artists and crafts people gather to celebrate all things handmade at the second annual Crafts in Chelsea. Its a fun filled family event with arts & crafts, bouncey castles, baked goods, games and prizes for children of every age.

Enjoy a little country right here in Manhattan and celebrate the change of seasons with carnival rides and games, music, square dancing, sideshow performers, a petting zoo, greenmarket and more! Visit the “Green Acre” environmental corner with hands-on activities for kids about environmental awareness, green living, and animal care. Riverside Park South is located on the Hudson River between 59th and 72nd Streets. This event is FREE.

Summer 2010

It has been a busy summer. Since April (2010) I have been at a fair/market every month. It has definitely been a learning process. The summer has been particularly hot and that has affected sales....so I would like to think. It would be so easy to give up, but I won't let myself be discouraged. I would like to keep up with my blog on a monthly basis on the very least. But as you can see I am not a very good writer so its painful for me to write as it is painful to read! LOL.

Anyway, I will be posting where I will be selling my hairclips and will be posting more pics of my booth and new items. I hope everyone is making the best of this heat!!!!

Craft Fair in April

So they have finally rescheduled the craft fair for Saturday, April 24 at Oceanside First United Methodist Church! The address is 2915 Davison Street, Oceanside, NY. It will be from 10-4pm. Hope to see you guys there :)

CANCELLED CRAFT FAIR

My first craft fair was suppose to happen on February 6. However, due to the weather, it was cancelled. Then it was rescheduled for February 13th, which was cancelled again. But I am determined to do atleast one craft show a month.

I can take this opportunity to add girls jewelry and felt hair accessories. I will try to post new pics of my new creations.

Pictures....Finally

My goal this year is to do atleast one craft fair a month. I have only done a handful and they have been a lot of fun. My first one this year is on February 6 - I hope. I just sent in the application and waiting for the confirmation. I have posted pictures which are not very good at all but I have been promising people that I would have them up.

Woohoo! My first post.....

I have been meaning to put up pictures, however, I can't seem to take decent pictures of my hairclips or my jewelry. I am focusing on children's accessories but I do create women's jewelry as well.

It seems people have a difficult time pronouncing Marikit. Its Marie + Kit. Its a word in Tagalog (Filipino language) that means beautiful. That is what I want to bring to you, beautiful creations.
